Lora Trenkle to be inducted to New England Basketball Hall of Fame


first_imgBRUNSWICK — George Stevens Academy graduate Lora Trenkle was among five Bowdoin College athletes selected as inductees for the New England Basketball Hall of Fame.The induction ceremony will take place Saturday, Aug. 8, at the DCU Center in Worcester, Mass.Trenkle was one of the finest women’s basketball players in school history, twice earning NESCAC Player of the Year honors and becoming a three-time WBCA All-American.Trenkle helped lead the Polar Bears to four NESCAC crowns, the NCAA Division III title game in 2004 and continues to rank in the top four all-time at Bowdoin in scoring, assists and three-pointers.This is placeholder textThis is placeholder textThe four other inductees include men’s player Nick Browning and women’s standouts Kristi Royer and Justine Pouravelis as well as current women’s head coach Adrienne Shibles, who will also receive the prestigious Perry Award.Current Bowdoin assistant coach Toby Martin will also be honored for her high school playing career at Maranacook.Founded in 2002, the New England Basketball Hall of Fame event has become one of the largest sports dinners in the country.
