Kopke Award for Distinguished Teaching during Southwestern College Commencement exercises Sunday, May 10. The Kopkes established the award in order to honor outstanding faculty members. “The Kopke award exemplifies the Builder spirit at Southwestern and affirms my role at Southwestern as an opportunity to shape educational leaders,” Glasgow says.  “The award is not just about the recognition of what has been accomplished but more on what has yet to be accomplished for future leaders in our school systems and higher education institutions.” “Jackie deserves the outstanding teaching award,” says Andy Sheppard, provost of Southwestern College.  “She is the heart and soul of the Ed.D. program and her students have truly benefited from her work with them.”Glasgow has spent the past three years at Southwestern.  Prior to that, she served for 37 years in public education in the Wellington school district; 28 of those years were spent teaching special education and fourth grade while the other nine years, she was the assistant superintendent.   Glasgow received her bachelor of science in education at Kansas State Teachers College; two master’s degrees (one in educational psychology and another in administration) from Wichita State University; and her Ed.D. from Wichita State University. “I am very humbled and grateful for receiving the award and wish to continue being an ambassador showcasing the exemplary educational programs Southwestern has to offer,” Glasgow says.  “It is important for me to think about what Southwestern can offer to the field of education and the possibilities it can afford its learners.”  Glasgow and her husband live in Wellington.Follow us on Twitter.last_img
