Police: Child, Woman Shot in Fort Lauderdale “Innocent Victims”

They were walking near Broward Blvd. around 6:40 p.m. when a group of people next to them got into an argument.Someone began shooting, and the child and woman were caught in the crossfire.“They were just at the wrong place at the wrong time,” says Frank Sousa, assistant chief for Fort Lauderdale Police.He explains there was some “some sort of disturbance” in the area of NW 1st St. and NW 1st Ave. “Eventually that disturbance led to gunfire,” Sousa adds. “This is a senseless shooting. This shouldn’t have happened, where ultimately it ended up impacting a young child who was out here innocently.”last_img
