Petmania, the Irish owned pet-retailer has analysed over 1,100 entries for this year’s Puppy of the Year competition, and voting is now open in the national search for Ireland’s top-dog. The competition has unveiled an eclectic list of popular doggy names. Across the nation the top-ten most popular names for man’s best friend are:1.            Bailey2.            Luna                                    3.            Ruby4.            Teddy5.            Charlie6.            Lola7.            Toby8.            Alfie9.            Bella10.          BuddyWhilst the list of entrants included the traditional Max, Rex and Scooby, some more unusual choices referenced pop-culture with Bono, Thor and SheRa! Whiskey, Sneachta and Mrs. Princess Buttons are some of the less expected dog-names included. Ireland’s most popular breed is the Golden Retriever in the top spot, followed by Labradors, Jack Russell Terriers and Cockapoos.Alison Flaherty Bedford from Petmania Jetland & Natalia Smelkowska from Petmania Eastpoint said, “We were overwhelmed with the response to this year’s Puppy of the Year Competition. A new furry friend is such a joy and it’s fantastic to see so many puppies being celebrated in the competition.
